Yes, you can take one of our cars out of Albania. Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Greece are all a few hours away, and plenty of our customers do a loop through two or three countries. You just need to tell us before you go, because the car needs extra papers at the border.

Add Cross Border to your booking

Pick the Cross Border extra when you book, or let us know before pick-up. We then prepare the car’s registration document, the international insurance certificate (the green card) for the countries you are visiting, and a written permission to take the car abroad.

Please don’t cross without it. The insurance would not cover you outside Albania and the border police can send you back. It is in section 8 of our rental terms too.

What you need yourself

Your passport (or an ID card where it is accepted) and your driving licence. Entry rules depend on your nationality, so check them for each country before you go. Only the drivers named in the rental agreement can drive.

Where people go

CountryUsual crossingWhy go
MontenegroHani i Hotit, north of ShkodërKotor, Budva and the Bay of Kotor
KosovoMorinë, on the A1 motorwayPrizren and Pristina
North MacedoniaQafë Thanë, near PogradecOhrid and the lake

Prizren is an easy day trip on the A1 motorway, and Ohrid works well as a night away. Kotor is long for one day from Tirana but fine if you stay over.

At the border

On summer weekends the queues can be long, so cross early in the morning if you can. Keep all the papers together. Remember the speed limits and rules change when you cross, and the car has to come back to Albania before your rental ends, to one of our locations here.

Choose a car from our fleet and add Cross Border when you book. If you are not sure about a route, ask us. We are happy to help plan it.
